About Me

After 27 years of resistance, I decided 2012 was the year I FINALLY learned how to cook. Turns out, it's not nearly as scary as I thought. There have been cooking ups and downs along the way, but I've definitely made progress and...dare I say it...even come to enjoy it. I created this blog in January 2012 to chronicle my adventures and possibly inspire others to take the cooking plunge as well (trust me, you can totally do it!).

I'm an Oklahoma transplant residing in DC with my beloved shepherd dog, Baxter. Baking has always been my first cooking love (I like to make things look pretty and bring happiness to people in the form of sugar) and my love of sugar is the reason I make myself run on a daily basis. I have been a vegetarian (pescatarian, more accurately....I eat seafood) for the past couple years, so I focus most of my efforts on finding new ways to make healthy and colorful meals. In addition to cooking, I've recently discovered my love of painting and will periodically take a break from chronicling my cooking adventures to share my latest works of art.

Hope you enjoy!
